Minter hoping to prove big league durability

Before beginning his candidacy to become one of baseball’s top relief pitchers, A.J. Minter must prove he is healthy and durable enough to handle the schedule of big league reliever. Minter will have a chance to do so this year, as the Braves have cleared him to pitch without the usage restrictions that limited his availability both of the past two seasons.

Eyes on the prize: Freeman back after Lasik

As Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman made an early arrival to Spring Training on Friday morning, he anxiously looked forward to testing the physical improvements he made during the offseason. A few months of rest allowed him to regain strength in the left wrist he fractured in May 2017, and the Lasik surgery he underwent in October has positioned him to avoid the dry-eye discomfort his contact lenses had occasionally caused on windy days.

Weighing the short- and long-term benefits, it seems quite obvious that the Braves will wait until the latter portion of April to bring Ronald Acuna to the Major League level. But that doesn’t mean the elite prospect won’t spend the next six weeks doing whatever he can to further enhance the excitement regarding his eventual addition to Atlanta’s roster.
